Foundations of Math and PreCalculus 10
Welcome to Math 10! This course used to have a provincial exam, but it has been removed. Instead, students must now complete a numeracy assessment prior to graduation. This assessment covers concepts up to Math 9, and it is encouraged to be completed in Grade 10, although they may choose to write it in Grade 11 or 12. Students are assessed on a proficiency scale of 1-4 and can take the assessment up to 3 times. While this assessment is technically not affiliated with this course, I will provide directions and time in class to help students to prepare, and I will be encouraging this class to complete the assessment in January. For more information, please refer to the Ministry of Education's website.
In addition to our textbook, we will be using resources courtesy of Erin Porter and Math10.ca. Math10.ca has some amazing resources complete with instructional videos. If you like to learn with videos, Graham Johnson (Math Johnson) has some super helpful videos too. I've also sourced an online version of our textbook so you can do math any time, any where - no excuses!

Note - In unit 3, you do NOT need to be able to factor trinomials in the form of ax^2+bx+c , where a>0, if a GCF cannot be removed.
-In unit 4, we did not learn how to convert mixed and entire radicals. We only used radicals in relation to exponents. |
