Please note that I have not been updating the daily homework blog as I have been emailing weekly "to-do" home. The new "pandemic" version of my website also has assigned tasks identified per week so I will not longer be posting on the blog.
Thursday March 5 - today we read an article about space exploration. Students could then choose from the list of questions at the bottom of the page (also on my Unit 1 page of this site) to respond to. Students must use a legit sources to support there response, and it must be cited appropriately.
Friday march 6 - To we were assigned our final Astronomy task - Our Astronomy Inquiry Assignment. This is due Friday March 13th. We will have all of our classes next week to work on this (March 9-13). If there's time, or if people finish early, we can watch the feature film "Contact". Monday March 2: Today we looked at our solar system. We played around with Pneumonics for remembering the order of the planets. We watch an intro video. Then we were assigned our Partner Planet Project. This is due at the end of class on Wednesday.
Tues March 3: time to work on Planet Partner Project Wed March 4: Last day to work on Planet Partner Project. Due at end of class. Feb 26: Today we watched a quick video explaining the theory of the Big Bang. We took notes on components of the Universe as well as tools astronomers use.
Feb 27: Today we did a lab investigating the expansion of our universe. This should be posted on our eP under Unit 1. Feb 28: Work/catch up day. Today students finished graphing their data and posting their Parallax lab on their ePortfolios. This is homework if not completed
Wed Feb 19 - More time to finish up HR diagram
Thursday Feb 20 - Time to catch up on assignments. Also complete Reflection #4 Friday - Feb 21. Parallax video, notes and lab! Today we revisited star spectra and learned about Doppler effect. Then we started creating our own H-R diagrams by graphing data. We will continue this tmw.
Today we learned about Star Spectral lines. We used spectrometers to see samples of various elements. We started a worksheet that we will finish on Tuesday. No homework.
Monday Feb 10 - today we learned about the Life Cycle of a star. This assignment was introduced in class and students will have Tuesday and Wednesday's class to complete it.
*update - you will have Thursday's class to finish up. Today, Tanina came into our class to share some First People perspectives of Astronomy/Astrology. We then began looking at Stars (how they are identified and what they are!).
