Task 1: Please watch the Crash Course video above (Emotions, Stress & Health).
Task 2: Please read the 15.1.2 lesson notes (on the right) Task 3: Watch at least of the remaining videos above |
Task 4: Watch the The National Geographic: The Science of Stress - video. If we were in class, we would take a class to watch it and discuss the follow questions: What connection does the video make of social rank to stress? Why is the reason for that, according to the video? What makes you stressed (eustress & distress)? How do you deal with stress in your life?
For right now, I don't need you to formalize these answers on your eP. I'd prefer to talk about them in a class Google Meet.

Task 6: Please begin your Stress & Coping Diary Assignment. You will complete this daily, over the course of the next week or so. You may write directly in the file, and post as a PDF on Unit 4 of your eP.

Chapter 16: Abnormal Psychological Disorders June 8 - June 19
This is such an important unit, and I'm devastated that we have run out of time. I've had to cut out SO much for us to manage a June 19th cutoff. The remainder of the course will be organized into tasks, and unfortunately, there are many videos I really want you to watch. There are 2 final assignments to be submitted before June 19th, so please manage your time wisely.
Task 1: Please watch Brene Brown's very short video on Empathy
Task 2: Please complete the Music & Mental Health assignment.
Task 3: Please watch the following 4 videos on a variety of psychological disorders. Note, that this is really only a brief overview of a handful of conditions. But, I feel good that they are presented in the videos in an informed and respectful way.
The final tasks aim to draw attention to some of the stigma that has prevented people from getting the help they need. Please be aware that some of the videos use strong language.
Task 4: Please watch the following videos. They are super powerful.
Optional task: Racing Thoughts - A documentary by Canadian filmmaker Louiselle Noel. Note that this documentary shows scenes of people who are struggling and it may be upsetting to watch. Please watch only what you can handle.
Optional task: A powerful study of the thoughts and experiences of 46 people in the UK with mental illness.
Task 5: Reflection #9. Stigma
Final Deadline for all assignments up to and including Reflection #9 on Stigma is: June 19 @ noon. No exceptions.
During the week of June 22nd, I will be emailing you a link to a survey which I hope will gather some feedback on the course. This feedback will help me to improve the content, design and assessments in the course and I've love your help! Please consider completing the survey.
In past years, I would have used our "exam" block to ask you to complete the following activity to polish up your ePortfolios. Obviously, this didn't happen this year, but I have found that the process really does take the ePortfolios to the next level. Please consider working through this final activity. You might find that you refer to your eP in the future - you might as well make it looks as polished and professional as you can!
