Rock Star Assignment:
After watching the Rock Star music video above, I hope you are inspired to drop a beat! With a partner, or a small group of 3, I would like you to create a short rap about the Rock Cycle and its components. If you're not into the rap, you could write a poem instead. For both options, you need to have at least 12 lines of text. It would be AMAZING if you wanted to record your rap and post it on your ePortfolio - but this is not required. Be sure to post the text of your rap/poem on Unit 2 of your eP.
Alternative assignment: Create a short story about a rock following the rock cycle. Give it a context and make it fun. Is it a story about a great rock love affair? Is the rocking trying to change its identify because it's in witness protection? Is it a story about a baby rock growing up to find its way in the world? Whatever you choose, be sure to throw in some scientific rock vocabulary.
Whichever option you choose, please submit your work on Unit 2 of your eP, under the heading "Rock Star Assignment" (all group members must do this). Your assignment will be graded on: completion of each stage of the rock cycle (3), accuracy and correct use of scientific terms (10), and effort/creativity (7) for a total of 20 marks.

Week of May 4
Task 1 - You only have one task this week. To wrap up this unit, please complete the Rocks Mind Map assignment below. Please note that I no longer suggest using the tool Popplet as it's been pretty unreliable lately. You are welcome to use Prezi, SketchBoard, and another tool that you are comfortable with - or, try something new! If you are having trouble posting your assignment to your eP, just let me know. For most applications, you will be able to share your map, and publish a link - that's all you need to do. If you are also able to take a screen shot of your map and post it as a photo, that would look really great on your ePortfolio. At minimum, post a sharable link so that I can zoom in as well as click on your video links.
